UEFA holds the premier European championship which is contested by all European countries. EURO was started in the year 1958. UEFA also holds competitions for different age levels like under-21, under-17 and also under- 17 apart from the international category. The body also organizes meridian cup for both senior and youth teams. Futsal also is organized by UEFA where only six players play in a single team.      

The premier tournaments held by UEFA are the Champions League and the EURO championship. The champion’s league is played by the clubs which play in the European leagues of England, Spain, and Italy etc. EURO championship is played by the European countries.

Football world cup

FIFA world cup is also called as Football or Soccer World Cup. It is simply referred as World Cup. This football championship takes place every four years since 1930. Brazil holds the record of maximum world cup wins. 32 teams compete for the title as per the current format. It involves a qualifying round and the final phase, mainly. The FIFA (Federation of Internationale de Football Association) is the governing body which hosts the world cup. It is estimated that 715.1 spectators were present on the finals. Football revellers from all over the world travelled to see the world cup. Brazil has won most of the tournaments till today. Only seven nations have succeeded in winning the tournament till now. In the world cup hosted in Germany 2006-07, Italy won the championship beating France. The next world cup is scheduled to be held in South Africa, from June 2010 till July 2010. The first world cup was won consequently by France and USA, defeating Mexico 4-1 and Belgium 3-0 in preceding order. Lucien Laurent holds the honour of scoring first World Cup. And Uruguay holds the title of wining the first World Cup.
